B.DESIGN IN ANIMATION & VFX

This is a 4-year undergraduate govt. degree program in Animation & VFX.

Animation is the process by which we see still pictures move. Each picture is shot on film one at a time and is shown at the rate of 24 pictures per second making the pictures appear to move. Animators are artists who specialize in the creation of animation. There are different kinds of animation like Traditional Animation, Digital Animation, 2D Animation, 3D Animation, Stop Motion Animation, CGI & VFX. Animation is a booming industry all over the world with high paying jobs.

ABOUT

“Animation can explain what the mind can conceive” – WALT DISNEY

To make any animated movie, video, game or cartoon three processes are involved:

1. Pre-production

This is the most important, most creative and fundamental part in animation without which neither production or post-production can be done. Pre-production for any animated film or game or comic is the process where you create a story, design the visual world that story will take place in, design the characters who will interact in that environment, and the pace or timing of the film. Preproduction involves character design, Background layout (BG), script writing & storyboarding. At Artemisia, though we teach all the aspects of animation, we focus a lot on pre-production as it is the most valuable skill an animator can have to rise high in animation industry.

2. Production

The process which follows after completion of Pre-production is called as Production. 2D Production involves rigging & animation of the characters according to storboard & backgrounds developed in pre-production. Production process for creating a 3D animation involves Modeling, Texturing, Rigging & Animation.

3. Post-production

The process which follows after completion of Production is called as Post-Production. In post-production the animations developed in production are compiled together into a movie. Color correction, compositing, lighting & VFX is added at this stage. Final rendering of 3D animation is also included in post-production.
