STUDENT VISA PROCESS

After receiving the Final Admission Offer from Artemisia College, you must apply for the student visa at the nearest Indian Embassy / High Commission of India as it usually takes 1-4 weeks to get the Indian Student Visa, if your Visa application is complete with all required supporting documents. The International Students Office (ISO) iso@artemisiacollege.com will assist you with the Visa process.

  • Usually the Visa is granted on the name of the institution and can be granted for “Artemisia College of Art & Design”.
  • Remember that your passport should be valid for a minimum period of six months beyond the date of intended departure to India.
  • An Indian tourist Visa can not be converted to an Indian Student Visa. In order to obtain an Indian Student Visa, the applicant has to return to his country to obtain it.
  • Student Visa is not required for children of NRIs and PIOs cardholders and for citizens of Bhutan & Nepal to study in India.
  • Student Visa is issued to an individual who wishes to come to India with the purpose to obtain education. Though the duration of the Visa is at the discretion of the Indian Embassy / High Commission, however the Visa is valid for the duration of the academic course of study, which the student is going for or for a period of five years whichever is less. The duration of study is written in the Final Admission Offer issued by the University / College.
  • Usually the student visa is issued for multiple entries allowing you to visit your home country in vacations. However, if it is a single entry visa and if you return back home then you need to apply for the fresh Visa at the Indian High Commission in your home country. However, single entry Student Visa can be converted to multiple-entry student visa at the local FRRO also.
  • In case, the initial visa is not endorsed for the complete duration of the degree / certificate / diploma program for which the student has enrolled in the Indian University / College or the student has to extend the stay because he/she is not able to complete the program in the stipulated time then the student has to apply for the extension of the visa before visa expires. For extension of the Student Visa, the student has to visit the local Foreigners Regional Registration Officer (FRRO)/ Foreigners Registration Officer (FRO) with authentic certificate, proof of adequate financial standing, etc. The Visa can be extended for a period of one year at a time up to the duration of the course or 5 years whichever is less for students pursuing full time and regular course in a recognized university or institution.
  • Some of the important documents required by the Indian Embassy / High Commission of India in your country to apply for Student Visa for studies in India would usually include photocopies of relevant academic certificates on the basis of which you have obtained admission, satisfactory evidence of financial support in form of bank guarantee / letter of support from parent / guardian, etc. It is also expected that the student applying for Student Visa produce evidence of transfer of funds for at least 4 months sustenance in India or show Travellers Cheques for a similar amount (usually US$1500).
