The course focuses on developing a strong professional practice through research-based and concept-driven approaches. The MFA program is offered in two specializations:
- Sculpture Composition
- Sculptural Portraiture
Students engage with a wide range of materials including Modelling, Plaster, Terracotta, Pottery, Cement, Wood, Stone, Metal Casting, and Fabrication at an advanced level.

CURRICULUM
The MFA Sculpture program is a 2-year (4 semester) course where students choose one specialization: Sculpture Composition or Sculptural Portraiture. Our curriculum makes ACAD the Best Fine Arts (Sculpture) college in Central India –

History of Art I – Study of major art traditions including Prehistoric Indian Art, Indian Folk & Tribal Art
(Eastern, Western & Central regions), Indian Iconography, Egyptian Art, and Greek Art. -
Materials and Methods I – In-depth understanding of materials such as Clay, Plaster, Wood, and Stone, along with techniques like enlarging and pointing.

Composition / Portrait – Creative (Realistic & Conceptual) works in any medium, focusing on originality, expression, and personal visual language.

Seminar – Presentations on new techniques, styles, and research developments in sculpture.

History of Art II -Prehistoric Art (Europe), Indian Folk & Tribal Art (North & South), Indian Iconography, Aegean Art, and Greek Art (Etruscan & Roman development).

Materials and Methods II -Advanced casting, foundry practices, metals, alloys, welding, fiber work, and contemporary sculptural processes including restoration and display techniques.

Composition / Portrait – Advanced creative exploration in chosen mediums with emphasis on concept and style.

Exhibition & Viva – Includes curatorial basics and exhibition planning along with presentation and
documentation. -
Seminar – Focus on research presentation and introduction to thesis writing formats.

Digital Sculpting (ZBrush) – Advanced digital modeling and integration with contemporary workflows.

History of Art III – Modern Indian sculptors, Tribal and Folk traditions (African & Oceanic), Indian Iconography, Roman Art, and development of Indian Asian art traditions.

Aesthetics I -Indian aesthetic philosophy including Bharata Muni, Ananda Coomaraswamy, and
Abhinavagupta, along with art’s relation to society, culture, nature, and religion. -
Composition / Portrait – Concept-driven works with a strong focus on personal style and innovation.

Exhibition & Viva – Includes curatorial practices, exhibition planning, photography, and inventory management.

Seminar – Research presentations with thesis writing and research ethics.

Digital Sculpting (ZBrush) – Application of advanced digital sculpting techniques.

History of Art IV – Western sculptors, Tribal & Folk traditions (American & Indian), Indian Iconography, Early Christian & Roman Art, and spread of Indian art in Asia.

Aesthetics II – Western philosophy including Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Hegel, and Kant with critical analysis
and interpretation. -
Composition / Portrait – Final body of work showcasing artistic identity and mastery.

Exhibition & Viva (Degree Show) – Final exhibition with complete presentation, documentation, curatorial planning, photography, and inventory management.

Dissertation – Research writing, thesis development, journal publication, and presentation with focus on
