Body mechanics is the study of how a character’s body moves in a believable way. It covers weight, balance, gravity, force, momentum, posture, timing, and physical effort. In animation, these principles help a walk, jump, lift, run, or reaction feel convincing. Students usually develop body mechanics through observation, life drawing, reference analysis, pose planning, and repeated animation exercises.
