Game Design & Interactive Media Services

Game and interactive media design is the practice of creating engaging digital experiences where users make choices, explore systems, and receive meaningful feedback. It combines gameplay rules, storytelling, level design, characters, art, animation, interface design, sound, and technology. Students learn to plan these elements, prototype interactions, test player experiences, and help build playable games or immersive media using production tools and game engines.

An interactive media degree can lead to roles such as game designer, game developer, level designer, UI/UX designer, concept artist, character artist, 3D modeller, environment artist, game programmer, technical artist, or art director. Career opportunities also extend to animation, AR/VR experiences, simulations, real-time visualization, and other digital content fields. A strong portfolio of finished projects is especially important when pursuing these roles.

The four-year B.Design program covers visual language, game genres, rules and mechanics, storytelling, level design, game psychology, 2D and 3D asset development, UI/UX, animation, and game production. Students use tools including Photoshop, Illustrator, Unity, C#, Maya, Substance Painter, ZBrush, and Unreal Engine 5. The program culminates in playable 3D and AR/VR projects supported by game design documentation and production planning.

Previous game-design experience is not required for the Certificate in Game Design or the three-month Unreal Engine certifications. These courses begin with foundational concepts and build toward practical engine-based work. For the B.Design program, admission is through the ACAD Entrance Test or portfolio-based early admission followed by a personal interview. A willingness to learn design, technology, and iterative problem-solving is valuable for every pathway.

Depending on the program, students work with Photoshop, Illustrator, Spine, Unity 2D and 3D, C#, Autodesk Maya, Substance Painter, ZBrush, Unreal Engine 5, Blueprints, and basic C++ scripting. The Certificate in Game Design includes Photoshop, Maya, Substance Painter, Unreal Engine, and Unity. Software is taught in the context of creating assets, mechanics, levels, interactive scenes, and final game projects.

Artemisia College offers several durations to suit different learning goals. The B.Design Game Design degree is a four-year program, while the Certificate in Game Design is a one-year full-time on-campus program. Unreal Engine Game Development, Environment Art, and Animation & Cinematics certifications are three-month online programs conducted three days a week. Each option emphasizes practical skills and project development at an appropriate depth.

Admission to the B.Design Game Design program is available through the ACAD Entrance Test, with a ₹1,000 form fee, or through portfolio-based early admission followed by a personal interview. The one-year Certificate in Game Design offers direct admission for eligible 10+2 or equivalent applicants, with a ₹1,000 admission form fee. Online Unreal Engine certifications use an online course form and a ₹500 form fee.
